In honour of St. Valentine's Day, here are 5 idioms which use the word heart. These are not examples of romantic idioms. The heart idioms cover a number of situations.

When you learn something by heart, you learn it exactly and from memory.
"She remembers all of her friend's telephone numbers by heart."

with half a heart

When you do something with not enough effort or enthusiasm, you do it with half a heart.
"Because he was feeling so tired he worked with half a heart for most of the day."

have your heart in your mouth

When you feel very nervous about something, your heart is in your mouth.
"My heart was in my mouth as my teacher read out our exam results."

heart out

When you something your heart out, you do it very strongly/extremely.
"She cried her heart out when her boyfriend broke up with her."
"She
sang her heart out at the karaoke bar last night."

a heart-to-heart

When you have a heart-to-heart, you talk to someone honestly and openly about your feelings.
"My relationship with James has been much better since we had our heart-to-heart last week."
Now use these idioms in your own example sentences.

Attack in Moscow airports

At least 31 people have been killed by a terrorist explosion at Moscow's busiest Airport, Domodedovo.
The explosion occurred about 4:30 p.m., in January, 24.
Around one hundred and thirty others have been hurt by the blast in the luggage collection area of the international arrivals hall. Police say one, or several suicide bombers could be to blame. Chechen rebels claimed responsibility for that attack.
Watch the video on You Tube and write what you think about this. Why did it happen?

On the 25th of December millions of Catholics all around the world celebrate Christmas. However, heavy snowfall throughout parts of France, Germany, Spain and Poland has caused dangerous driving conditions and transport disruptions. Famous landmarks were covered in snow in Paris and Berlin , while Warsaw's temperatures plummeted 10 degrees below centigrade.
Europe saw the heaviest snowfall in 17 years in the last 4 days. London Heathrow Airport had to scrap flights for the fourth day due to the snow in Europe that is making weather conditions impossible for flights to take off or land.
Tens of thousands of people have been waiting to get home or go on vacation for Christmas since the weekend. Europe’s busiest airport, Heathrow has been affected the most in terms of flights and number of passengers stranded. London Heathrow Airport operated at one-third of its capacity due to the heavy snow.
More snow fell in different parts of Europe this morning and Frankfurt airport was closed down.
Due to the current weather situation in many parts of Europe, delays and cancellations of flights may force many people to meet Christmas at airports or railway stations.
Look through the videos on this topic on You Tube and write what you would do in a such situation.
